CMHA is thrilled to announce that The Beechwood in Avondale has officially closed on its RAD conversion and rehabilitation financing, marking another major step towards preserving affordable housing in Cincinnati! A special thank you to Congressman Representative Greg Landsman for securing the $1.05M EDI Grant that helped close the financial gap and made this deal possible!
Congressman Landsman said a few words at the Beechwood kickoff event, most notably how investing in our families to build a better community, a better economy, and a better country. He said “Investing in updating all of the housing across the footprint of CMHA is a big deal. If you want you build a big economy, a really good economy, a strong country, a place where people want to be and business want to invest, you invest in a few things. You invest in infrastructure, and you invest in people. The best investments in people are three-fold: education, healthcare and housing.”
Board Member, Mrs. Bernadette Watson was in attendance and said, ”This is a neighborhood I grew up in, so I see where it has been, where it is now, and all the work CMHA has done throughout the County.” Mrs. Watson is excited to see the improvements coming to The Beechwood complex. Additionally, City of Cincinnati Councilmember Meeka Owens attended the event and spoke about how CMHA is always willing to come to the table to discuss and resolve difficult conversations, but is always impressed by CMHA’s commitment to preserving and enhancing affordable housing which positively effects Cincinnati families.
