Delando and Roxanne Small
When the Small’s first joined FSS they were not employed. They struggled to make ends meet and their only source of income was OWF assistance. Since joining FSS Mr. Small obtained full-time employment at Children’s Hospital and was promoted to Equipment Technician. Mrs. Small was hired part-time at a local bank where she works as a Teller.
The Small’s took full advantage of their time in FSS. They knew that one day they wanted to become homeowners. Their credit and lack of income were major obstacles to achieving this goal. Though they had a long road ahead of them, they did not get discouraged. Instead, they took advantage of the referrals given to them. They took financial and credit counseling classes where they learned to budget and began to pay back creditors to increase their credit score. They also took Homeownership classes to prepare them for homeownership. The Small’s accomplished what few families do; they empowered themselves by learning to take charge of their finances.
Today the Small’s are homeowners! Delando and Roxanne are truly an example of what you can do when you set goals and take steps to accomplish them.
