How to Apply
The waiting list for CMHA’s Housing Choice Voucher Program is currently closed.
Resident-based vouchers increase affordable housing choices for very low-income families. Families with a resident-based voucher choose and lease safe, decent, and affordable privately-owned rental housing.
Submit a pre-application to CMHA when the Waiting List opens.
All families selected by a random lottery will be placed on the waiting list.
- CMHA determines a need to select applicant's from the Waiting List.
- CMHA will notify those at the top of the list and will request information from those applicants.
- CMHA will determine the applicants eligibility for the HCV program (i.e. income & background checks).
- CMHA will invite eligible applicants to a briefing.
- CMHA will issue vouchers to families immediately following the briefing.
Approved applicants begin their search for suitable housing. They may attend "Your Rental Connection" events on Tuesdays 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to meet with potential landlords.
